Marfa has Prada and Midland will have OGX Resources. This 20,000 sqft 1970’s office building is a little jewel in Midland and the design takes it’s inspiration from the west Texas landscape, tumbleweeds, oil derricks and black gold. The staircase is clad in gloss black wood, a reference to the 7,000 wooden derricks that once covered the nearby oil fields. A custom chandelier resembles the Texas tumbleweed one sees during a dust storm rolling across the highway. Rocks from the client’s land prospects is incorporated into the design of the reception desk and coffee bar. Steel tubes encase light fixtures over the workstation areas which resembles drilling pipes. Every detail of this project lends reference to the brand of the company and enhances the unique features of the modern building in downtown Midland.
