The 634 square mile Houston region receives an average of 49.76 inches of rain and .4 inches of snow each year and has an average of 104.1 days of precipitation making it the sixth wettest city in America. Houston is also ranked number ten in average relative humidity at 75%; combine this with an average high of 79.7 degrees and Houston finds itself ranked the eighth most uncomfortable city (based on a combination of heat and humidity). Taking cues from this, MaRS in collaboration with Woreman Brand Agency chose the iconic image of an umbrella as the basis for the creation of a custom designed wall covering for this years’ fair. The image of an umbrella is unique in that it remains iconic both in plan and elevation views. The droplet-like graphic forms a distinctive repeatable pattern presented in classic black and white.
